Sara Fernandez - Therapy Assistant-Intern Pyschologist
Sara is motivated by her passion for helping people in need. Respect and independence for her patients are the core values that guide her to meet their therapeutic goals. Sara is also a firm believer in active collaboration with her patients to help meet their unique needs. Thus far, Sara’s career in psychology is still quite new but her preferred approach to therapy is highly interpersonal, with a focus on creating strong bonds with her patients. She is an attentive listener and is compassionate. Sara is also bilingual – she speaks fluent English and Tagalog (Filipino). In her free time, Sara loves spending time with her family. She enjoys traveling, eating out, and taking her children out on little adventures. She is also a passionate cook and she loves reading.
Sara graduated from the Australian College of Applied Psychology in 2018. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science (Honours), and she is currently a provisional psychologist and therapy assistant at Australian Disability Services. She is also an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society. Prior to becoming a provisional psychologist, Sara studied at Macquarie University and completed a bachelor’s degree in commerce with a major in Accounting. She worked as a Chartered Accountant for almost a decade before deciding to make a life-changing transition to pursue her true passion – psychology. She started her experience in psychology as a practice manager at Auburn Psychology, where she oversaw daily operations, staffing, and managing finances. She currently works as a provisional psychologist at Auburn Psychology and a therapy assistant at ADS. Recently, Sara has accepted the position of Clinical Services Coordinator at ADS, responsible for guiding the clinical team.
